The Colorado Biz Bash, or CoBiz Bash, put on annually by our client Colorado Business Bank, is a spectacular fundraiser. Each year the event features amazing talent—previous editions have showcased the Doobie Brothers and REO Speedwagon—and a fantastic outcome: millions of dollars raised for nonprofits that do good in the local community. The 14th edition, held last month, came with an eighties twist, Pat Benatar as the headline act. When we were asked to design the visual identity for this year’s event, we jumped at the chance.
Behind the design
Pat Benatar, flowers, and rock-and-roll absolutely called for an expanded color palette to do it up right. Everyone agreed that the Colorado Business Bank corporate colors, as well-respected as they are, needed to flex just a tad to promote the awesome annual benefit concert at the Fillmore in Denver. The Monigle design team was totally inspired by rock memorabilia and graphic imagery from the early 80’s—split-fountain color, hand-written script, guitar picks, etc. Needless to say, there were hours of listening to the pop-star’s tracks while creating this year’s Biz Bash promotional materials including posters, direct mails, printed and digital invitations, banner ads, and more.
