Monigle Associates Takes Best in Show at 2007 BMA Colorado Gold Key Awards ![]() 5.14.2007 — Monigle Associates was awarded ?Best In Show? from the Colorado chapter of the Business Marketing Association (BMA) for the design firm?s 2006 corporate identity work for Abacus. The award was presented May 11 at ?A Night of Champions - BMA Gold Key Bowl XXII? at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver. The Gold Key Awards is one of Colorado?s most highly acclaimed marketing competitions, dedicated solely to B2B marketing communications. Awards are given in 47 categories based on creativity, production, execution, selling proposition and results. Monigle?s campaign, entitled ?A Re-Energized Visual Identity? won the Gold Key award in its category, as well as ?Best In Show? top honors for the entire competition. Monigle was engaged in 2006 to develop a new identity for client Abacus, including a logo, design system, and signage. Recognized primarily as a database cooperative for catalog retailers, Abacus was faced with the challenge of re-launching its brand to past, current, and prospective customers as a new, stand-alone company. The goal was to signal that Abacus is a solutions partner with a greater breadth of product sets that are relevant to a broader range of markets. ?Abacus really needed a compelling corporate identity to cement the idea of the company being the industry table-setter in this complex data-driven industry,? said Laurent Tschumy, Monigle Art Director. ?The idea behind the visual expression was simple then ? finding the hidden; seeing what others can?t. We deliberately chose the imagery code as a way to illustrate how the company simplifies the complex.? Monigle also devoted a significant amount of time to the new identity launch, leading a host of all-employee Brand Ambassadorsm training sessions. Recognizing the need for aligning the culture and employees for success, each participant received a brand book and engaged in exercises developed to stimulate awareness of the new brand. ?We?re honored to have our creative team recognized publicly by the BMA,? said Tobb Webb, Principal with Monigle. ?The successful outcome of the work for Abacus was a result of working synergistically with the client. In doing so, we were able to create a new corporate identity that really showcased a mix of innovation and expertise for their re-entry into the market.? Each year BMA reviews and revises entry categories to ensure that Gold Key reflects current marketing trends. All entries are produced by, or for, Colorado companies. Monigle also received recognition for their advertising work for First Data, and visual identity campaign for Craters and Freighters.
